(2010)
Tony Scott, Denzel Washington, a choo-choo. But not that Pelham 123 remake, which was only distinguished by Travolta calling someone a “bumhole”.
This one, with added nu-Kirk, is cheesy as can be, filling its slender premise with reportage from news networks, such that at times it reminds you of one of those real-life tales of bravery against the odds that are cheaper filler on satellite channels.
The ever present news network helicopter keeping pace with the train is quite funny though, and the logic leaps that require its continued locomotion without being stopped much, much earlier are entertaining. Mainly, though, this works because Scott keeps building the tension in spite of the surrounding ludicrousness.
