(2008)
Unarresting Pang Brothers that only remains etched in the memory for granting us the sight of Nicolas Cage’s most extraordinary syrup yet. There are many who will hold court at length on the subject of what a terrible actor Cage is. I’m not among them. Indeed, I tend to find merit in even his shonkiest choices. Of which there have been many lately. Cage has been churning out B-movies like a man in the grip of a very large tax bill. You may get a Kick-Ass or Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call – New Orleans. Or you might get this or Next.
Cage was briefly enjoyable as an action star (1997, basically), and he should have left it in the past. There’s nothing to distinguish this hitman-in-Thailand flick as it goes through the motions with a series of clichés that fail to ignite the serviceable action. And Nic doesn’t even get any great wig-out (if you’ll pardon the expression) moments.
