Still stunning in design and effects (although the animation never looks anything other than animation), this probably really holds up because of its “proper” SF plot, albeit by way of Shakespeare.
Robbie the Robot steals every scene he's in (particularly providing 60 gallons of whisky for a Ricky Butcher lookalike) and Walter Pidgeon adds gravitas as Morbius. Leslie Nielsen manages not to look too put-out when he scores bottom marks on the intelligence test, bless him.
