(2011)
Compared to Fear & Loathing... this is quite slight, and has none of the iconic swagger of that adaptation. But I still found this tale of Hunter S Thompson's early, pseudonymous, experiences as a journalist highly enjoyable.
Depp slips effortlessly back into Hunter S cadence, and for all the talk that he was far too old for the role (some quarter of a century) I wouldn't have been conscious of it if I hadn't read the criticisms in the first place. It's rather wonderful to have Bruce Robinson back in the director's chair too (and on script duties), and you wouldn't know it was 20 years since his last, unhappy, experience.
