(2007)
Or, Jodie Does Death Wish. C-grade exploitation with A-grade actors and director makes for a weird mix.
Foster breathes enormous conviction into her role and Neil Jordan slums it as a director for hire, but mostly this is entertaining vigilante hokum, replete with a stupid ending (although I loved the "Give me back my dog!" line).
It was critically mauled and I can see why, since one expects more from Foster/Jordan. Added to that, the Taxi Driver comparisons are pointless and inevitably detrimental. Anyone attempting to give it a serious textual or ethical appraisal is on a hiding to nothing.
