(2010)
Utterly, and seemingly unashamedly so, formulaic Todd Phillips follow-up to The Hangover. But not without its pleasures.
Galifianakis' shtick is wearing very thin only two years after he's become a name, and Downey Jr is dependable but not playing to his strengths as the straight man.
It's comedy-of-pain through-and-through so, depending on your sensibilities, it is fitfully funny and frequently over-indulgent in tired gross-out. The Mexican border crossing sequence is a highlight but this is basically Planes, Trains... with added masturbation and very topical Two and a Half (Raining) Men (.com) references. I admit that I did laugh heartily at the annoying-child violence scene.
