(2003)
Joe Dante recalls this as a year and a half of hell, saying that the beginning, middle and end weren't the ones he started out with (five producers with conflicting demands being the cause).
But there's still a lot of Dante in it (the Area 52 scene being the most obvious, with Kevin McCarthy, Daleks and various lovingly recreated '50s sci-fi monsters) and for the most part it's very entertaining , if rarely dazzling (the Louvre scene being an exception, as Bugs, Daffy and Elmer dart between paintings and become of the style therein). Paris itself has a Jerry Lewis poster at every venue.
Cast-wise, Brendan Fraser is a decent foil (and gets to poke fun at Brendan Fraser movie star, and has a hilarious moment in Yosemite Sam mask) while Timothy Dalton is sheer brilliance riffing on his Bond role. Only Steve Martin truly stinks the place out, so self-consciously OTT that its almost jaw-dropping. And did Ron Perlman just show up as a favour?
