(2009)
I can see why Marc Webb was given the directing gig for the Spider-man reboot, since his work here is technically highly accomplished. Levitt and Deschanel give attractive lead performances, though the latter is, by dint of the script's intentions, somewhat inscrutable.
It’s easy to acknowledge the arguments that this was over-egged in execution and too self-consciously "hip" stylistically, but I found it to be well-observed for the most part. The wise-beyond-her-years little sister was a conceit too far, however.
