Apparently this is lousy, a complete retread of the first one, but set in Bangkok. And shit. Except I found it very funny, and when it wasn't all that funny it repeated the central trope of the first one (the mystery of how they got into this mess) and remained engrossing.
Also, Todd Phillips is one of the few comedy directors who actually has an eye for composition and staging a scene.
Yes, there's nothing very original here, but it was never boring and the riffing on its predecessor's structure (in terms of "How did X end up at Y") is more in its favour than something to be maligned. And the lady boy plot beat may, in a perverse way, be some kind of triumph as an acceptance of differing sexual perspectives.
