With the number of misunderstandings on display here, at times this plays like a knockabout version of Blood Simple. Gotta love the Malkovich, particularly when the Coens are writing to his full-on splenetic strengths (You've got give props to a guy who can repeatedly utter "What the FUCK?" with his vicious relish).
Clooney and Pitt are on fine dopey form, and Clooney in particular has great chemistry with Frances McDormand. Best performances are JK Simmons and David Rasche (yes, Sledgehammer!) as CIA superiors following the chain of events surrounding Malkovich's ex-analyst.
