David Fincher's filmmaking is as technically brilliant as you'd expect, but there's no disguising B-movie shlock.
And really, there's little here that makes this sufficiently distinct from the Swedish version to make it worthwhile in its own right. That said, Rooney Mara's performance is outstanding, Daniel Craig is dependable as you'd expect and it's nice to see Martin Jarvis pop up (Alan Dale must have an amazing agent, as he seems to get a bit part in everything these days).
