(2007)
The script probably could have used more humour, but overall this is a breezily enjoyable fantasy. Interesting how Vaughn, formerly Guy Ritchie's producer, is leaving him in the dust as a director.
The leads are okay, but it's Michelle Pfeiffer (still unbelievably radiant when not made up as a crone) and Mark Strong who take acting honours. Strong should get more lead roles rather than just playing heavies, but at least he gets to show off his comedy chops. And Pfeiffer should have been offered roles that have been served to Streep and Close first for far too long - this is the most fun she's been since Batman Returns.
De Niro doesn't quite nail his part since comic overplaying is involved (his benchmark comedy roles are still back in the '80s; Midnight Run and Brazil). Ricky Gervais' screentime is mercifully short.
