(2009)
On revisiting this reboot, it's the first hour that is probably the superior; deliriously eventful and well-executed.
The pausing of the action to introduce Mr Dentures' slurpy exposition is necessary, but nothing after that is as inventive or epic-making as Kirk's initial rise to meet his "destiny".
There's still the problem of taking the easy road in casting Simon Pegg (and his comedy sidekick). And I hope they are wise enough to forget nu-Spock's petulant side after this installment, as Zachary Quinto doesn't help himself by pouting where Nimoy would be still. Giacchino's score is so good that it feels unnecessary to have the old theme come in on the end credits.
